Gangotri - Kedarnath Trek

This trek is along the old pilgrim route from Gangotri to Kedarnath.

Stage 1 :

Drive down from Gangotri to Mala (1478 m). The actual trek starts here, after crossing the river Bhagirathi.

Stage 2 :

Trek 5 kms to Saurikigad (1218 m). This trek is along an even surface.

Stage 3 :

Trek 10 kms uphill to Belak (2439 m).

Stage 4 :

Trek 14 kms downhill through dense forests, to Budha Kedar (1524m).

Stage 5 :

Trek 26 kms uphill through terraced fields, and idyllic villages to Panwali (3963 m). The 'bugyals' (alpine meadows) along this trek, are simply enchanting.

Stage 6 :

Trek 14 kms downhill to Sonprayag (1829 m).

Stage 7 :Trek 19 kms uphill to Kedarnath (3583 m).
